People started speculation after reports of Brian Pillman Jr. was spotted at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, following his recent departure from AEW when his contract with the promotion expired, and his profile was removed from the AEW roster on the company website.

He spent three years in AEW, where he was paired with Griff Garrison and mostly worked on Dark and Dark: Elevation. He had been vocal in the past on Julia Hart being taken out of the Varsity Blonds group for The House of Black.

As previously reported, he was seen training at the WWE facility on Thursday, but there wasn’t any word on his status with the promotion.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Pillman is still a free agent for now after his two-year AEW deal expired this month.

Per the report, Pillman Jr. has yet to sign with WWE and was “told that what he’s doing resembles a bit of a “get to know you” meeting and that WWE had immediate interest when he became available.”

They were also told that a lot of people WWE is bringing in are being kept close to the vest, although Pillman Jr. doesn’t fall under this because he was so visible at the PC.
