Bayley is still critical of her performances, despite some huge wins recently.
The Role Model beat IYO SKY at WrestleMania 40 to become the new WWE Women’s Champion. She followed that up with a title defence against Tiffany Stratton and Naomi at Backlash, in one of the matches of the night.
Bayley spoke with Bodyslam.net before Backlash in Lyon, France. She was asked about her match against IYO SKY at WrestleMania, and it was called one of the best matches on the WrestleMania 40 card.
She was thrilled with the compliment. Bayley revealed she usually watches her matches back, but refused on that one because she was not happy with it. However, after so much good feedback, she feels proud of her performance finally.
“I am someone who does watch my matches back. But I haven’t watched that one back because I was upset at myself on certain things. I was like ‘Oh that wasn’t how I wanted it to go!’, but hearing the feedback from my peers, and coached, and producers, it’s all been the same and saying similar things.”
“So I feel so proud, you know? Especially coming back from my injury. I was still trying to get back to wear I was. I keep trying to get back to how I move, and how I adapted to every style in the ring. That was a reminder to the fans that I’m not done yet! I was down for a little bit but I still have a lot left in the tank.”
Bayley Wants To Meet DJ Otzi After ‘Hey Bayley’ Chants Take Over
One huge crossover that could take place in WWE is Bayley and DJ Otzi. The WWE Women’s Champion was asked about her thoughts on the “Hey Baby” song being chanted about her by international crowds.
Bayley claimed she would like to meet DJ Otzi, before explaining the history of how the chants came about in NXT.
“I can’t believe it’s been with me for that long. I feel like him and I need to hang out or meet or something. That would be a cool crossover. I remember it on the tour we did in NXT in 2015. That was where it started. It was the first time NXT went out on tour like that, and I was champion. I already felt excited when that started. But they had chants for everybody, like soccer chants and all that. But I felt mine was special. Then, when I wrestled Nia Jax at NXT Takeover London, that’s when it just took on a life of it’s own, and I’m so happy it carried on.”
