Bryan Danielson is still hopeful for a rematch against Nigel McGuinness.

“The American Dragon” was not medically cleared to take part in AEW All In London at Wembley Stadium last August. As a result, his injury seemingly put a hold on Nigel McGuinness potentially returning to the ring. As AEW looks ahead to All In London 2024, it seems that a Danielson vs. McGuinness match could once again be possible.

During a recent interview with Daily Mail, Danielson addressed the chances of them renewing their rivalry.

“Maybe one day I can get a rematch with Nigel McGuinness at Wembley,” Danielson said. “I know Nigel was really big on it last year but I at the time I wasn’t sure if he could hang with me. Now, he has worked his ass off and got himself in great shape, since then my health has a little bit deteriorated, so now I see that as a real possibility.”

“He and I had some incredible matches that comparatively few people saw, right? Like when you’re talking about the matches we had in 2006 through kind of 2009, the internet wasn’t what it is today,” Danielson recalled. “Our generation has such a nostalgia for Wembley and especially UK wrestlers, especially Nigel, has talked about the SummerSlam in 1992, and as an American, I never even thought I’d see Britain, so I’ve just marveled at this thing.”

McGuinness hasn’t competed since 2011, while his last match against Danielson took place in Ring of Honor in 2009. AEW teased a match between Danielson and McGuinness at AEW All In, but “The American Dragon” missed the show because he injured his arm at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
