Kazuchika Okada is the new Continental Champion.

Okada defeated Eddie Kingston on Dynamite to win the title after Kingston missed a backfist, allowing Okada to pin Kingston with a landslide and the rainmaker clothesline. After the match, he celebrated with the title before PAC came out and stared down the new champion.

This marks the end of Kingston’s run with the Continental Championship, where he became the first champion by winning the Continental Crown in a tournament final against Jon Moxley at Worlds End. That tournament unified AEW's newest title with the New Japan Strong Openweight and the ROH World Championships. With Okada’s win, the Continental Crown is no longer unified.

Okada shocked the world earlier this month by turning on Eddie Kingston and joining a new version of The Elite with The Young Bucks. Nicholas and Matthew Jackson have been amplifying their roles as EVPs, suspending Hangman Page from The Elite and firing Kenny Omega from the group for failing to show up for dates, despite Omega being out of action due to diverticulitis.
