Kota Ibushi won’t be wrestling anytime soon, as he will be sidelined with an ankle injury and is slated to get surgery.

The match

It all started when Pro Wrestling NOAH held its New Year 2024 show earlier this month with the main event singles match between Naomichi Marufuji and Ibushi, where there were some rough-looking spots in the bout.

Kota later apologized for his performance. Ibushi was believed to have suffered injuries to both of his ankles early in the match. Post-bout, he was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

Sidelined

Ibushi previously noted he would need to undergo surgery. Now, he took to Twitter to note he will get the operation on Wednesday. Google Translate interprets Ibushi's posts:

“Long time no see. It feels unusually long.

Things won't go on as before.

I hope tomorrow's surgery is successful.

As long as you can walk, that's enough.

I don't need anything else”

We wish him a speedy recovery.
