Kris Statlander has learned a lot from Orange Cassidy in recent years.

All Elite Wrestling‘s Kris Statlander recently sat down with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. Statlander was asked she’s learned from Orange Cassidy’s AEW International Championship reign. Statlander said Orange Cassidy has been her mentor, but he also taught her to push her opponents to see if they’re ready to be champion.

“I’ve learned so much from him,” Kris Statlander admitted. “He has been like a mentor and a friend to me pretty much my whole career with AEW. I think one thing he really instilled in me is that — obviously, you want to win your match, and you want to continue to be the champion.

“No one really wants to lose. But take it as an opportunity to bring the best out of your opponent and try to elevate them to see if they really are ready to be a champion or not. So every match I have is not just for me; it’s about pushing people to see if they’re ready for the spot that I’m in.”

AEW World’s End is coming to Long Island

When asked about the upcoming AEW World’s End pay-per-view coming to Long Island next month, Statlander said she’s excited and mentioned that it’s a homecoming for herself and MJF.

“I think it’s so exciting,” Kris Statlander said. “And it’s not even just a homecoming for Max and just for me; it’s a homecoming for so much of the roster also, which is really exciting. I think it’s a really cool opportunity to have such a big event.

“And I know we always kind of make Grand Slam this big event as well, but it’s not going to compare to Worlds End. I think it’s really, really exciting to be so close to home and to have such a major thing happen for our company. So I don’t know what to expect from it, but I know that I’m very excited.”
