The condition of Bears Hall of Famer to be Steve McMichael appears to be improved.

According to a report by WGN's Jarrett Payton, McMichael has improved with hospital treatment for what was believed to be pneumonia.

McMichael, the defensive tackle from the 1985 world champions, suffers from ALS and is unable to move. He was taken to the emergency room on Thursday for treatment.

Payton reported via Twitter on Friday that McMichael is expected to be released from the hospital within the next few days. He has a UTI and antibiotics have cleared this up while he is also undergoing a procedure to drain fluid from his lungs, according to Payton.

It's the second reported time McMichael was taken to the hospital for a situation like this.

Last week during NFL Honors at the Super Bowl, McMichael was announced as one of two senior candidates to be named for enshrinement in Canton at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The enshrinement ceremonies are to take place Saturday, Aug. 3.

Payton, the son of Bears running back great Walter Payton, will present McMichael at the ceremony.
