Since Triple H has taken the reins as the head of creative, WWE's weekly television has been far more palatable. If nothing else, the product is watchable and has wildly compelling angles, with each show no longer feeling like a root canal to get through.
He's far from a perfect booker, but the 14-time WWE World Champion is a dramatic upgrade from his father-in-law. But what makes Triple H tick? Where does he draw his inspiration from? In a recent interview, he made it abundantly clear none of his thoughts are influenced by fans on social media.
While talking to Andrew Schultz on the Flagrant podcast, Triple H criticized the internet wrestling community for being too over-reactionary and not accurately representing the greater audience. "The internet is not real life," Triple H said. "The b####### and complaining that is on there is not real life. You could read the internet, and it could sound like this thing is dead. It's just the opinion of a few people."
What he said could be misconstrued due to the blunt nature of his tone, but it's hard not to see his point of view. Since winning the Royal Rumble, Jey Uso has been an online punching bag for his repetitive promo style and limited in-ring arsenal. Yet, Uso is a top merch seller, and every arena in the world is yeeting and giving him enormous pop every time he comes out.
There are times the promotion needs to show a willingness to pivot, notably with the continuation of the Judgement Day storyline, but for now, this current regime has shown an ability to craft exciting programming with this loaded roster.
