WWE

The weekend in Philadelphia was star-studded to say the least, but we now know that Trish Stratus and Lita were pulled from WrestleMania weekend plans.

According to Fightful, both WWE Hall of Famers were pitched for a segment during WrestleMania weekend. Admittedly, the actual details are a bit scarce. However, it sounds like at one point there were talks about having both legends in Philadelphia. The report makes it sound like we could have seen them involved in something during WrestleMania itself. If nothing else, they could have always been shown off during the Hall of Fame ceremony late Friday evening.

So what happened?

In the end, we got a great big nothing. Neither performer showed up or showed out. Honestly, thinking over the card, I cannot think of a segment that would have made sense for them to be worked into. Adding them could have felt forced. Granted, they did work against Damage CTRL a year ago. But I don’t think they would have added to things. On the other hand, having them at the Hall of Fame would have been nice.

WrestleMania did give us plenty of nostalgia appearances, so there’s nothing really to complain about. While I won’t go so far as to say it was the best ever, I can say it was an extremely satisfying show. Now, with that said, I could have seen a case for them to have arrived for a surprise on either the RAW or SmackDown after WrestleMania. After all, with several major international shows fast approaching, it isn’t impossible to imagine bringing either or both back in for a stretch. I am sure the fans in Europe or the Middle East wouldn’t mind seeing the duo. And, some of those Saudi checks are hard to say no to.
