We saw him written off late in 2023 with a knee injury , so now we have an update on when we might see Rey Mysterio.

And, according to the Wrestling Observer, Mysterio was initially thought to be returning in the January timeframe.

While that has come and gone, a return is said to be imminent.

How imminent remains to be seen.

But, with us all on the Road to WrestleMania, one can’t help but wonder if we won’t see him in the next week or two.

A return soon would allow WWE to possibly set up a major match between Mysterio and Santos Escobar.

Update On When We Might See Rey Mysterio

Escobar, of course, is who has received on-air credit for injuring the 2023 WWE Hall of Famer.

All things considered, if the initial plan of a January return was true, you have to think that meant the Royal Rumble.

The Rumble has, of course, come and gone with no Rey Mysterio return.

Still, the bigger play is WrestleMania 40.

Presuming Mysterio’s knee injury is healed, and his return is truly imminent? A big match in Philadelphia would be welcomed.

While Rey did not spend eons down in ECW, he certainly broke into the United States market courtesy of Paul Heyman’s sensational promotion.

So, with the biggest show of the year not all that far from the birthplace of Extreme…

Could Rey Mysterio make an extremely awesome return in time to avenge his injury and take down Santos Escobar?

Surely Mysterio would be popping up on a SmackDown soon enough. And if you want to keep up on any and all friday night fun, check out those SmackDown results here.

On the flip side, could we even see Rey in Australia? Like, would he possibly show up to cause a Judgement Day loss?

Unlikely, but one never knows.
