WWE Hall of Famer clarifies contract situation

After days of speculation regarding Edge's future in WWE, the Hall of Famer moved to squash rumors of a rift between him and the company in a video that was published on social media. The 'Rated R Superstar' is currently deciding whether to continue his wrestling career or retire for the second time.

"There's nothing going on," Edge said. "There's no hard feelings between me and WWE. I love WWE, it's my dream gig. It's all I ever wanted to do. I didn't come at them with some crazy contract or anything, they didn't deny me. I have a contract extension sitting in my inbox, I just don't know what to do."

Edge's comments came hot on the heels of a report that he had turned down an extension offer from WWE and could potentially be on his way to rival company AEW. On August 23, PWTorch reported that Edge had shared his desired contractual terms with WWE, but the company failed to meet his request. Explained the outlet:

"PWTorch has learned that Copeland presented to WWE what it would take to retain his services, but WWE declined to meet his request. This has sparked a belief within WWE that he is probably headed to AEW and knew at that time what AEW could offer him (based, perhaps, on conversations with other wrestlers of his star power about AEW pay). Tony Khan is a big fan of Edge and certainly would value adding him to the roster, either as a wrestler or in some other role."

Considering the interest in Edge's future, it's understandable why he felt the need to set the record straight. He is a WWE legend. His return to the wrestling ring isn't something anyone expected when injury forced him to retire. Deciding on whether to continue his career or end things on his own terms is a big decision.

Only Edge will know if it's time to call it quits. However, his in-ring return has been a fun story to follow, and fans around the world will be hoping it continues, either in WWE or AEW.
