The ongoing feud between AJ Styles and LA Knight will come to a head next week, as the two foes will face off in a #1 Contender’s Match for the WWE Universal Championship.

The April 12 episode of SmackDown saw the introduction of a series of matches that would determine two superstars who would face off for the right to be the first person to challenge Cody Rhodes for his newly won title.

In the first match, Knight beat Bobby Lashley and Santos Escobar after Legado Del Fantasma and the Street Profits got involved. Knight clinched the win by hitting the BFT on Escobar.

In the main event of the night, Styles came out on top in a match against Kevin Owens and Rey Mysterio. Styles hit a Styles Clash on Mysterio for the win. After that match, Knight took to the ring, and he and Styles stared each other down while yelling about who would win.

WWE confirmed that Knight would face Styles on the April 19 episode of SmackDown. The winner will challenge Cody Rhodes for the title at WWE Backlash.

Knight previously defeated Styles at WWE WrestleMania 40.
