Goldberg is one of the most dominant wrestlers in the history of both WWE and WCW, and despite not being renowned for his in-ring prowess, Goldberg is undoubtedly a legend of the business. With multiple world title reigns and a Hall of Fame induction in his back pocket, Goldberg is proof that pure intensity, aura, and physicality was enough to make it in pro wrestling.
In both WWE and WCW, Goldberg did have some standout matches that were better than others. Whether it be in his initial WCW spell, his first WWE run, or his comeback run after 2016, Goldberg has particular matches that fans will remember more fondly than others - and we will take a look at the very best of the bunch!

Spring Stampede 1998 opened up with one of Goldberg’s best matches, as he went to battle with Saturn in a competitive, fast-paced, and hot match that the crowd provided one hell of an atmosphere for.
The action wasn’t always perfect throughout, but in a way, this added to the authenticity of the match as things were stiff and felt like a struggle. Despite Saturn’s own size, he was still dominated for a lot of the match (despite a period of control as he worked over Goldberg’s arm), bumping around amazingly for his opponent, making sure to put all the spotlight on him.
Goldberg competed in a match at Bad Blood that was different to his usual type when he came up against Chris Jericho, playing more the role of a babyface on the backfoot, doing a good job of selling an injured arm and shoulder, and changing up his offense to still execute his powerful moveset.
Ultimately, Goldberg still overcame Jericho, overcoming all the difficulties posed during this contest. These sorts of matches are not usually suited to Goldberg, but he did a serviceable job at adapting here.
Goldberg was on a roll in WCW as an undefeated brute, and this led to him challenging for the United States Championship, going up against Raven in a Raven’s Rules match on Nitro.
The crowd in Colorado was absolutely thunderous, and the action kept up the pace to ensure a great atmosphere throughout. Raven’s Flock was not enough to keep Goldberg down, not even the giant Ron Reiss, who was on the receiving end of a massive Jackhammer. Goldberg shrugged off Raven’s offense, elevating himself to a truly larger-than-life performer. This match was such an important step in defining Goldberg’s WCW legacy, and he won the United States Title in the process.
This RAW main event had a ridiculous amount of star power on display, even with Orton and Batista still early into their WWE careers. A hot crowd elevated all the action, which was well wrestled and full of great spots, including a thrilling Goldberg hot tag where he ran wild.
The action became chaotic in the final stretch as the various participants brawled into the crowd until RVD scored a win over Orton for his team.
Goldberg’s iconic undefeated streak eventually led him to world title contention to face his toughest challenge yet - an NWO-backed Hollywood Hogan. On one of the most historic episodes of Nitro in history, Goldberg lived up to the occasion, matched the star power of Hogan, overcame shenanigans, and defeated Hogan in front of one of WCW’s most raucous audiences of all time.
The action was kept simple, and the match remained fairly short, serving its purpose and ensuring that Goldberg looked like a world beater.
Goldberg and Scott Steiner were two powerhouses of WCW in 2000, and it felt like two freight trains crashing when they went at it at Fall Brawl in a No Disqualification match. They battered each other with power moves, showcased pretty good chemistry, and looked like each other’s equals.
Admittedly, like most WCW matches at the time, it was very overbooked and featured plenty of Vince Russo orchestrated interferences leading to Steiner’s victory, but the action itself was a whole lot of fun, with it being just 14 minutes of these two giants throwing each other around.
The best match of Goldberg’s second WWE run came at WrestleMania 33, when he and Brock Lesnar had arguably the best sprint of a match you’ll ever see. From the opening bell, these two went at 100mph with finishers, barricade spots, suplexes, and an electric crowd who loved seeing these two larger-than-life stars clash.
The match had callbacks to their previous match at Survivor Series 2016, it made both men look superhuman, but ultimately it allowed Lesnar to finally overcome Goldberg and stand tall, winning the Universal Championship in the process. This match was so much fun, and it wasted no time at all.
This babyface vs. babyface clash between the super over pairing of Goldberg and Diamond Dallas Page is often regarded as Goldberg’s greatest match. Goldberg brought intensity and power, whereas DDP served as the technical glue to transition between moves and sequences, doing a great job in holding the match together, as it was longer than many of Goldberg’s bouts at the time.
Fans will remember the near-fall counter of a Jackhammer into a Diamond Cutter, making fans think that DDP was about to upset Goldberg and win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. In the end, Goldberg managed to power through, but it was certainly a struggle.
