Louisville coach Chris Mack tests positive for COVID-19

The COVID-19 issues impacting the Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team aren't dissipating as of the start of the second week of February.

Louisville confirmed late Sunday night that head coach Chris Mack tested positive for the coronavirus and is dealing with mild symptoms. Additionally, Wednesday's home game against the Pitt Panthers has been postponed following the discovery of positive tests, subsequent quarantines and contact tracing affecting the Cardinals.

Last Wednesday, Louisville announced that matchups against the Syracuse Orange and Virginia Cavaliers were postponed because of coronavirus-related setbacks. Assistant coach Dino Gaudio will serve as head coach in place of Mack if Louisville is cleared to travel for this coming Saturday's contest at the No. 18-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies.

It's unknown if Mack will be available to coach against Syracuse on Feb. 17.

Louisville defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets last Monday to improve to 11-4 overall and 6-3 in ACC action. The Cardinals have bounced back and forth in the Associated Press top 25 poll throughout the season but did not make the list on Monday morning. They did, however, receive 28 votes.
