Oregon State pauses basketball activities, postpones two games due to COVID-19

The men's basketball program of the Oregon State Beavers has become the latest to pause activities due to the results of COVID-19 testing and subsequent contact tracing.

Additionally, Oregon State confirmed that Wednesday's game against the Utah Utes and Saturday's contest versus the Colorado Buffaloes have both been postponed.

"The Pac-12 Conference will work with the three programs to attempt to find mutually agreeable dates to reschedule the games," the school explained in its prepared statement.

As of early Tuesday afternoon, Oregon State remained scheduled to face the Arizona Wildcats on Jan. 14.

According to Nick Daschel of the Oregonian/Oregon Live, Oregon State senior center Roman Silva, three assistant coaches and a graduate assistant have missed two games since last Saturday because of COVID-19 testing and contact tracing. The Beavers fell to the Stanford Cardinal on Monday.

While 14-day quarantine periods are recommended whenever any Tier 1 individual associated with a team tests positive for the coronavirus, the Tennessee Lady Volunteers recently paused for only six days before being cleared to resume activities.

The Oregon State women's basketball team, meanwhile, hasn't played since Dec. 19 and announced on Monday that at least two additional games are postponed because of COVID-19 issues impacting that program.
