Baylor ends Oklahoma State's CFP hopes with goal-line stand

The Oklahoma State Cowboys rallied from a 21-6 deficit at halftime of the Big 12 Championship Game against the Baylor Bears, but the comeback came up just short and Baylor held on to a 21-16 victory.

The Cowboys entered Saturday at No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings with Baylor not far behind at No. 9. Baylor's chances at jumping in to the top four and earning a spot are slim, but the result is good news for the No. 4 Cincinnati Bearcats and No. 6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Baylor outlasted Oklahoma State in a mistake-filled game Saturday with the Bears defense intercepting Cowboys quarterback Spencer Sanders four times. It was the Oklahoma State defense that fueled the comeback bid by shutting out the Baylor offense in the second half and forcing a three-and-out in the final minutes to give the Cowboys offense a chance with less than four minutes left.

While the Oklahoma State offense managed to drive 89 yards in the final three minutes of the game, the team was unable to move the ball one more yard over the goal line and was stopped for no gain on the last three plays. The final play for Oklahoma State was a race to the pylon with Dezmon Jackson coming up just short of the end zone.

It's the third Big 12 championship for Baylor, which won the title in 2013 and a share of it in 2014.
