Swedish professional golfer Ludvig Aberg once again turns down multi-million-dollar LIV Golf league as he claims allegiance to the PGA Tour in the latest Eurosport podcast. He clearly states he’s not a big fan of the Saudi-backed league just like Viktor Hovland and Tony Finau.

His response to the LIV contract comes following Jon Rahm’s exit from the PGA Tour for a potential $300 million contract with several additional benefits. While the Spaniard clearly stated that money and lucrative offers from LIV Golf were his reason for his exit, Aberg refuses to get lured by money alone.

For the young star, playing in the PGA Tour and continuing his legacy is worth more than “potentially burn a lot of bridges.” Aberg reveals that there have been multiple offers from LIV Golf, especially since this past fall. Not only that, they have also been trying to lure Hovland and Finau to further strengthen their stance.

Ludvig Aberg stated that he’s “ super confident ” in his decision and won’t falter as Jon Rahm did in early December. In 2022, Rahm also committed to play for the PGA, but later changed his decision to join LIV. As of now, Aberg will be following Hovland and Finau’s decision to stay with the traditional league.

There were multiple red flags which is not good…I wasn’t interested in that. I will never chase money; what I do is compete. I did the right thing. Ludvig Aberg’s statement according to translated text via Eurosport podcast.

LIV Golf tries to lure in more PGA Tour players prior to merger deal

Just a few days ago, pro golfer Viktor Hovland revealed that he will never jump ship as he’s not interested in the LIV Golf format. He bluntly stated “ I don’t think I would have become a better golfer” had he signed with the Saudi-backed league.

While he understands why Jon Rahm made his decision, especially considering the amount of money given, for Hovland, competing against “150 players and a cut” is more challenging. Despite rejection from one of the top golfers, LIV was reported to also have approached American golfer Tony Finay.

Although fans were conflicted over Tony Finau’s possible LIV Golf signing rumor, the Full Swing star re-affirmed that he’s not going to jump ship on an Instagram post. He stated that he’s excited for the 2024 season and will be looking forward to participating in that.

The rumors started after his close friend Rahm made his decision to quit the PGA Tour for financial and professional reasons. Rahm’s signing with LIV has been one of the heaviest blows to the Tour as he was one of the top 5 golfers in the world. His exit left a hole in the PGA which is yet to be filled.

Several changes are expected to come forward in the upcoming days, with rumors of LIV-PGA merger talk being done on December 31. Despite allegiance to PGA, many golfers have switched to LIV from 2022 to now. Time will tell who remains with the traditional Tour and who signs multi-dollar LIV Golf deals.
