The Los Angeles Angels survived a late surge put on by the Cleveland Guardians to earn their 10th in spring training.

The Angels came out on top, 5-4, in their matchup on Saturday.

The Halos scored the first five runs of the game thanks to a pair of homers by outfielder Jake Marisnick and first baseman Nolan Schanuel. Marisnick hit a two-run homer to left field in the fourth to give them a 3-0 lead. Schanuel hit a solo homer in the fifth to extend the lead to 4-0.

Outside of Angels relief pitcher Caden Dana, the Halos' pitching staff was phenomenal. Between four pitchers, they only allowed five hits, six strikeouts, and zero runs in seven innings.

Starting pitcher Tyler Anderson went for 3.1 innings, allowed four hits, zero earned runs, zero walks, and three strikeouts. Anderson earned his first win of spring ball to improve his record to 1-1. He will likely start another game before the real games begin in less than 20 days.

The Angels had nine hits, two home runs, 17 total bases, and left eight runners on base. The Halos will look to continue their excellent play tomorrow when they take on the San Diego Padres. The first pitch is set at 1:10 p.m. PT.
