Angels' Mike Trout completes drills, but return from calf strain still unknown

Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout is inching toward his return from the right calf strain that's kept him sidelined since May 17.

As noted by the official MLB website, Trout completed on-the-field drills and ran the bases for the second straight day prior to the Tuesday afternoon matchup at the Oakland Athletics:

The three-time American League Most Valuable Player still has no timetable for beginning rehab assignments en route to returning to the big league club. Trout was batting .333 with eight home runs and 18 RBIs when he was first ruled out for six to eight weeks because of his calf.

He was first eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list July 17.

The Angels began Tuesday's game at Oakland at 46-47 and 10 games back of the first-place Houston Astros in the AL West standings.
