Angels star Shohei Ohtani not in starting lineup Monday, available to pinch hit

Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani remains out of the lineup with a groin injury on Monday as his team wraps up a four-game series against the Chicago White Sox.

While a timetable for his return hasn't been set yet, he will be available off the bench for Monday's game, and it is believed the injury isn't too serious.

Ohtani left Sunday's 6-5 win over the White Sox after he appeared to pull his groin running to first base.

The reigning AL MVP will miss his next scheduled start against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday, although manager Joe Maddon remains hopeful the ace will pitch at some point during the upcoming series.

Ohtani was also spotted working out on his own ahead of Monday's game, fueling hope he won't be sidelined for too long.

The 27-year-old has four home runs, 12 RBI and an AL-leading 17 runs scored so far this season. He also has a 4.19 ERA through four starts.
