Blue Jays allowed to host home games in Toronto amid pandemic

The Toronto Blue Jays won't temporarily be known as the Buffalo Blue Jays after all.

On Thursday, Ontario’s Heritage, Sport, Tourism, and Culture Minister Lisa MacLeod told TSN 1200 that the MLB club can host regular-season games at Rogers Centre.

After Canada extended the country's United States border closure through at least Aug. 21, there were concerns that Toronto would have to relocate all home games to Buffalo, where the team's Triple-A affiliate resides, or to its Florida spring training facilities. Per MacLeod, that won't be a concern.

Under current guidelines, non-essential personnel traveling to Canada have to quarantine for 14 days. That isn't an option for the Blue Jays or teams traveling to Toronto during the 60-game MLB schedule.

The Blue Jays are currently holding summer training camp sessions in a bubble environment that includes Rogers Centre.
