Bryce Harper jokes about interest in joining Eagles if MLB season isn't held

With the MLB season up in the air, players may want to start exploring their other career options. And it looks like Phillies right fielder Bryce Harper may be joining a different Philly sports team if the season is canceled, as he tweeted a simple but loaded "what's good" to the Philadelphia Eagles Monday night.

This is just the most recent time that Harper has expressed his interest in the Eagles as a career backup plan. He appeared on Lane Johnson's "Outside the Lane' show last Friday, where he spoke about playing football.

"I was thinking, ‘man, if baseball doesn’t come back, I’ll go play for the Eagles,’" Harper said.

For now, this appears to be all in good fun but given the fact that MLB commissioner Rob Manfred recently said that there is "a real risk" the season does not happen, Harper may actually have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Deion Sanders, Bo Jackson, and other two-sport athletes.

"I think my first love was football growing up," Harper said. "I loved the Friday night lights and coming out of the tunnel and having that rah, rah, let’s go mentality, which you kind of can’t have in baseball. You gotta be even keel and not really get too fired up. Football was the total opposite for me."

But what position would Harper play? He previously played outside linebacker and he seems confident that he would be able to pick it up again. Of course, it doesn't hurt that he's 6-foot-3, 220, and obviously has enough strength to blast home runs 400 feet. So if the MLB season doesn't work out, hopefully Harper will at least get a tryout at Lincoln Financial Field.
