The Cincinnati Reds lost yesterday 14-1 to the Chicago White Sox in Cactus League play. As the Reds continue to trim down their roster as Opening Day nears, the team optioned two players this morning to the Louisville Bats their Triple AAA affiliates. The Reds face off today against the San Fransico Giants in Cactus League play at 4:05 PM. Thursday the Reds will play the very first game of the Spring breakout series when they face off against the Texas Rangers at 6:05 PM.

RHP – Conner Phillips

Phillips is the 71st overall prospect by ITD and he has appeared in three games this spring pitching in six innings, giving up three hits, walking three batters, and striking out five. Phillips gave up zero runs during his innings work finishing his spring with a WHIP of 1.00 and a 0.00 ERA this spring for the Reds. Phillips is headed to Louisville to continue to get more work as the start of the season nears. Phillips appeared in two games last season for the Reds pitching in 4.0 innings total walking four, striking out four, allowing one hit, and no runs allowed.

OF – Bubba Thompson

Bubba Thompson played in 12 games for the Reds this spring and played quite well. In 12 games he saw 19 at-bats, had seven hits, one run scored, two doubles, three RBIs, one stolen base, and slashed .368/.429/.474. Thompson finished his MLB spring training campaign with an OPS of .892 in the 12 games played. Thompson will head to Louisville to get more consistent at-bats while the Reds outfield is currently set. Thompson before joining the Reds this year spent the previous years in the Texas Rangers system seeing a handful of games with the big club over each of the past four years.
