Fan bashed for giving 60th home run ball back to Yankees' Aaron Judge

David Kohler from SCP Auctions told TMZ Sports on Wednesday that the baseball New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge smashed on Tuesday night for his 60th home run of the season that tied the mark reached by Babe Ruth in 1927 could've been worth $100-150K had it been put up for sale.

Instead, 20-year-old City College of New York student Michael Kessler retrieved the ball and then gave it to Judge in exchange for a meet-and-greet with the All-Star, four autographed baseballs, and a signed game bat after the 9-8 comeback win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Gregg Giannotti of New York sports radio station WFAN blasted Kessler for that decision during a segment that aired Wednesday morning.

"You’re 20 years old," Giannotti said, per Ryan Chichester of Audacy. "You put that up for auction, and you could stash away $150K for your life because you got that baseball, and you want to give it to Aaron Judge so you can get a picture signed? It’s a terrible decision! Keep that ball and put it up for auction. It’s not being a jerk, it’s just the smart thing to do."

Fellow WFAN co-host and former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason suggested that Kessler may come from money and, thus, not need the extra cash. Giannotti didn't waver.

"Then take the money and give it to a charity!!" he responded to that notion.

Kohler made it clear to TMZ Sports that the worth of Judge home-run baseballs will only increase once the 30-year-old matches and then breaks the all-time American League single-season record of 61 homers set by Yankees icon Roger Maris in 1961. Kohler even thinks the baseball linked with Judge's last round-tripper of the campaign could sell for over $1M at a future auction.
