This season, the Cleveland Guardians have three Rawlings Gold Glove Award finalists : second baseman Andrés Giménez, third baseman José Ramírez, and left fielder Steven Kwan.

Despite the 2023 Gold Glove Award winners set to be announced on Sunday, November 5th, two of these three have already taken home defensive accolades.

Yesterday, Sports Info Solutions platform The Fielding Bible announced that Giménez and Kwan were named the best defensive players at their respective positions in MLB.

The 25-year-old Giménez became the fifth different Cleveland player to win a Fielding Bible Award, joining Kwan (2022 and 2023), Franklin Gutiérrez (2008), Roberto Pérez (2019 and 2020), and Myles Straw (2022).

The 26-year-old Kwan won his second consecutive Fielding Bible Award, as he was the only unanimous winner last year.

Here is what The Fielding Bible had to say about Giménez’s performance this season:

“Andrés Giménez won his 1st Fielding Bible Award. Gimenez led all 2nd basemen with 23 Defensive Runs Saved in 2023. He was our Co-Defensive Player of the Month in September. Giménez was the only infielder to be at least 10 Plays Saved above average on balls hit to both his left and his right in 2023. He’s the only Guardians player to win the Award at 2nd base.”

Additionally, here is what The Fielding Bible said about Kwan’s performance this season:

“Steven Kwan won his 2nd Fielding Bible Award. He’s the first player to win a Fielding Bible Award in each of his first 2 MLB seasons. He led all left fielders in both Defensive Runs Saved (16) and Good Fielding Plays (24) in 2023. He’s the only Guardians player to win the Award for left field.”

The pair of defensive standouts also seek to become repeat Gold Glove Award winners this year.
