The Washington Nationals made their TV debut Monday in a spring training game against the St. Louis Cardinals. MASN aired the first of three Nationals’ spring training contests.

It was also the debut of Kevin Frandsen as the Nationals’ MASN color analyst, replacing F.P. Santangelo. Additionally, MASN rolled out a new score bug.

It’s a welcomed changed and long overdue. The bulkiness of the previous score bug was just too busy, to say the least.

The new graphics are simple and clean. Sort of cuts out the noise around the names and score. Also, the score bug has moved from the bottom right corner to the left top corner.

No change is universally accepted. There were still some tweets of disapproval.

“I’m really gonna miss the old masn one just feels wrong watching the Nats without it. The score bug isn’t supposed to go to the top until the playoffs,” one tweet read.

MASN hadn’t made a significant change to its graphics since 2011. While some yearned for an upgrade to the 21st century, others got accustomed to the old graphic.

Nonetheless, as the Juan Soto era is ushered in, MASN is ushering in a new look.
