After trading away Eduardo Escobar and Max Scherzer, the New York Mets' sell-off continues in advance of the trade deadline.

The team has now traded veteran outfielder Mark Canha to the Milwaukee Brewers for pitching prospect Justin Jarvis.

The 34-year-old Canha is in his ninth year in the big leagues with the A's and Brewers. He's hitting .245 this season with a .343 on-base percentage and is the second piece the Brewers have added offensively in the last week, having acquired veteran Carlos Santana from the Pirates as well.

Lifetime, he's a .248 hitter with a .348 on-base percentage and he should help a Brewers team that is 0.5 games behind the Reds in the National League Central entering play on Monday.

As for Jarvis, who the Brewers gave up. He was ranked the Brewers No. 30 prospect via MLB.com:

Ranked as MLB Pipeline’s No. 199 Draft prospect in 2018, Jarvis went to the Brewers in the fifth round out of the North Carolina prep ranks and signed for slot at $327,100. He dwelled with Wisconsin, both as a Single-A and High-A affiliate, for the 2019, 2021 and 2022 seasons before joining Double-A Biloxi for four games last season. Back with the Shuckers for ’23, the 23-year-old right-hander is in the midst of a breakout campaign and was Milwaukee’s Minor League Pitcher of the Month in April after striking out 29 batters over four starts (23 innings).

Throwing from a high arm slot, Jarvis has picked up a little velocity in the spring and sits around 93-95 mph with his four-seamer, but what makes the pitch play up is its invisiball nature with incredible ride up in the zone.

The trade deadline is 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
