The Chicago White Sox have officially made their recent hire official.

Today, Pedro Grifol, who had been the bench coach for the Kansas City Royals, was introduced as the new manager of the Chicago White Sox.

Grifol is taking over for the now departed Tony La Russa, who was forced to take a leave thanks to lingering health issues.

But after the White Sox missed the postseason in 2022, they found their man.

Today, Grifol had his introductory press conference and made his goals perfectly clear.

Grifol stressed the importance of being prepared, fundamentally sound, able to communicate, and holding everybody accountable.

Grifol Shares His Goals

Grifol’s goals are high after the White Sox fell short in 2022.

This is a manager who has great coaching experience and has been a part of winning teams before, having been with the Royals during their World Series runs in 2014 and 2015.

But he made his goals clear.

He wants to win.

He wants to build a culture where everybody works hard, holds each other accountable, plays the game the game the right way, and bands together to try and win a World Series.

The South Siders finished 81-81, in second place in the American League Central and 11 games behind the division champion Cleveland Guardians.

Chicago had won 93 games in 2021.

But with Grifol on board, the expectations and the goals have been made perfectly clear.

The White Sox want to win and make up for the mistakes that were made in 2022, which ultimately sunk them and caused them to fall short of the postseason.
