Red Sox manager Alex Cora returns to team following last week's positive COVID-19 test

The Boston Red Sox have lost four in a row, and five out of their last six , since manager Alex Cora tested positive for COVID-19 last week

According to multiple reports, the former MLB infielder is back with the club and is expected to manage the team for Wednesday night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Red Sox are currently without multiple unvaccinated players for their important early-season series against the Blue Jays, including starting pitcher Tanner Houck. The 25-year-old went just 1-5 in 2021 but registered a 3.52 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and recorded 87 strikeouts in 69 innings pitched over 18 games (13 starts).

In four games this season, including three starts, Houck has gone 1-1 and allowed five earned runs on 11 hits, seven walks and 13 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings pitched.

Boston placed multiple players on the COVID list last week, including starting catcher Christian Vazquez. The backstop has since been activated and has gone nine-for-40 with one home run and four RBIs in 12 games played thus far.
