The Detroit Tigers placed outfielder Kerry Carpenter on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right shoulder sprain.

Carpenter, 25, left Thursday's game against the Baltimore Orioles after making a fantastic catch in the sixth inning, reaching over the right-field fence to rob Ryan Mountcastle of a two-run homer.

Carpenter is batting .217 with four homers and eight RBIs through 20 games this season. He made his MLB debut with Detroit last season and batted .252 with six homers and 10 RBIs in 31 games.

The Tigers also promoted infielder Andy Ibanez from Triple-A Toledo, transferred right-hander Matt Manning (broken foot) to the 60-day injured list and named utility player Zack Short as the 27th man for Saturday's home doubleheader against the Orioles.
