Veteran slugger Trey Mancini made a great first impression on Thursday night with his new organization.

After signing with the Cincinnati Reds, Mancini dominated at Triple-A Louisville, registering three extra-base hits and two home runs.

Mancini hadn't played in a game in nearly a month after being released by the Chicago Cubs, so this was certainly a great effort. The hope is that he can make an impact on the Reds lineup as they chase a playoff berth for the first time since 2020.

The seven-year veteran has played with the Orioles, Astros and Cubs in his major league career, registering 129 homers and 400 RBIs. He's actually in his eighth major league season, but sat out all of the 2020 season because of illness.

In addition to those power numbers, he's a .263 lifetime hitter, though it's been a struggle for him recently. After being traded to the Astros in 2022, he hit just .176 and he hit .234 with the Cubs this season before being released. He did get a World Series ring with the Astros last season as they beat the Philadelphia Phillies in the Fall Classic.

At the major league level, the Reds enter play on Friday at 67-62 and 4.0 games back in the National League Central. They are also 0.5 games back in the chase for the third and final wild card spot.

They will take on the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night. First pitch is set for 9:40 p.m. ET as Hunter Greene (CIN) pitches against Brandon Pfaadt (ARI).
