Watch: Anthony Volpe's parents celebrate his first major league hit with Yankees

On Saturday, New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe accomplished another dream, recording his first major league base hit against the San Francisco Giants.

Perhaps the only two people more excited about Volpe's special moment were his parents, Michael and Isabelle Volpe, who were in attendance at Yankee Stadium to witness their son's feat.

As Volpe smoked a liner into left field, his parents erupted with pride and looked slightly relieved that their son got the first one out of the way.

After going 0-for-2 with a walk and a steal in his debut on Thursday, Volpe wasted little time grabbing his first base knock. In the bottom of the second, Volpe laced a 1-2 off-speed pitch from Alex Cobb past a diving Brandon Crawford at shortstop.

Volpe would add another base hit in the ninth inning of the Yankees' 7-5 loss to San Fran, finishing the day 2-for-4 with a run scored and his second career stolen base.

Volpe's parents initially bonded over the Yankees when they met in the early '90s. Speaking recently with Joon Lee of ESPN, Isabelle expressed shock over hearing her son's name on local sports talk radio shows she and her husband often listen to.

"Now it's like, 'Oh my God, they're talking about my son," Isabelle said. "We just kind of look at each other like, 'Wow.'"

It might be hard to trump the feeling of recording your first major league hit. For Volpe, having his parents there probably made the moment priceless.
