Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Over the course of approximately four hours on Monday at the L.A. County Superior Court, a 27-year-old woman testified against Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer, seeking a permanent restraining order due to alleged domestic violence and sexual assault.

ESPN.com’s Tisha Thompson and Alden Gonzalez reported on the events of the first day of the hearing, indicating that despite the lengthy testimony and detail the woman described, Bauer’s legal team and attorneys insisted both sexual encounters between Bauer and the woman were “wholly consensual.”

The main accusation from the woman stems from Bauer choking her to the point where she lost consciousness, and she demonstrated during her testimony how Bauer tied her hair around her neck to cut off her breathing.

On her first encounter with Bauer, the woman said, “I didn’t say anything to him, he didn’t say anything to me. It was like I was a rag doll. I was scared of him…I was in so much pain.”

And she later added, about the second meeting with him, “[I] felt knuckles in my jaw…everything was happening so fast…He was treating me like I wasn’t a human being.”

News surfaced last week that a protection order was filed against Bauer by a different woman, but the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner took to Twitter himself to react to the allegation.

As for the case in question, there are still multiple days to play out in the restraining order hearing, which, according to ESPN.com, would extend for as long as five years in California.

Among the factors Bauer’s attorneys plan to reference are medical records, “questionable gaps” in some text message exchanges the woman had with some of her friends, and even social media videos that have been taken down. His legal team requested the restraining order be dismissed at the start of the hearing, but the judge rejected that action.

Bauer continues to be on administrative leave while his legal situation plays out and MLB investigates the allegations against him.
