A NASCAR insider praised the work of one member of the Prime Video broadcast team after the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. On The Teardown podcast, Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic talked about the one thing play-by-play announcer Adam Alexander did well.
“There was a moment at the end of the race I really think deserves credit for Adam Alexander, who I think is incredibly underrated and so good at his job,” Bianchi said. “As Ross Chastain was hunting down William Byron, and it was a good battle there at the end, Steve [Letarete] and Dale [Earnhardt Jr.] laying everything out from the driver’s perspective, from the crew chief’s perspective, they had the spotter communication, it was fantastic. It elevated up to where it felt like man, this is intense. It’s like you could feel it come across your screen. This is the Coca-Cola 600 and NASCAR. It was phenomenal.”

“Adam Alexander did something that a lot of play-by-play guys have a hard time doing: he stopped talking largely. He just backed away and let Dale and Steve take over the show. Not many broadcasters, play-by-play guys in that situation, are going to do that because they kind of feel it’s their moment if you will. He’s like, ‘You guys take this.’ He would step in and give lap counts or whatever he needed to, but largely it was the Dale and Steve show. I thought that was great, and it just shows you, I think, how Adam is good at his job and such a good feel for his booth.”
Alexander was named the race caller (play-by-play announcer) for NASCAR on Prime Video in November and will also contribute to NASCAR coverage on TNT. He joined the network after working for FOX Sports, where he covered the NASCAR Xfinity Series. During his time at FOX Sports, Alexander hosted NASCAR Race HUB on FS1. He also called selected NASCAR Truck Series races and contributed to college football and basketball broadcasts.
Prime Video will cover all the NASCAR Cup Series races in June. The next race will be on Sunday, June 1, when the drivers compete at Nashville Superspeedway at 7 p.m. ET.
