Evaluating the Phoenix Suns has been proving tough to do this season. The team currently sits 14-15. Luka Doncic helped himself to a 50-piece this Christmas to push the Phoenix Suns below .500. He has proven to be a thorn in the side of the team since the 2022 playoff series that likely led to the break up of that team.

Mixed Results

The season up to now for the Phoenix Suns has been one of mixed results. Strings of wins followed by strings of losses and back again. Not much of the ‘Big 3’ has been seen. Bradley Beal appears to be out indefinitely and has expressed frustration at not being able to be on the court. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant have had time out. Interestingly there are also reports that Kevin Durant has his own frustrations with the roster and how things are going this season.

Western Conference

The Phoenix Suns haven’t matched up well against their rivals in the Western Conference this campaign. The Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings are among the teams that have inflicted losses on them. There are still many games left and it is too early to properly assess them as a team. But the Western Conference will be tough to make it out of. In fact, historically it has taken a couple of seasons for a team with new stars to gel.

Health Is Wealth

Health seems like it will be a crucial factor to the Phoenix Suns‘ chance of winning it all this season. Injuries during the playoffs can be particularly brutal. The turnaround between games is short. A team can lose a series before their key players are able to return from injury. It probably is fortunate that this is happening to the Phoenix Suns during this part of the season. As a result this gives the team time to get everyone healthy and to turn things around. But if a team trades for star players that are not on the court the move doesn’t pay off. In these situations, health is wealth.
