Despite his shooting struggles, Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski can be expected to continue seeing heavy minutes on the floor for the Dubs. Don’t take it from us; take it from Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, who voiced out his support for the rookie.

Golden State Warriors Rookie Gets Praise From Steve Kerr Despite Struggles

When asked about the lack of scoring lately from Podziemski, Kerr responded by laying out the good things he sees from the former Santa Clara Broncos star.

“I don’t care if he scores or not he’s in every one of our best lineups. He’s our best plus-minus guy for the year. He’s really good whether he’s scoring or not. And I know, especially as a rookie, he’ll have ups and downs from a scoring standpoint. Right now he’s on a down period. But he allows other guys to play well just because of his recognition of what’s happening on the floor, his cuts, his ball movement, his spacing. I’m thrilled with Brandon, and as long as he keeps playing as hard as he is, he’ll be out there.”

Podziemski has scored just seven points in the last three Warriors games. That includes his measly two-point output in last Wednesday’s 137-116 home win over the Memphis Grizzlies in which he shot just 1/6 from the field. Podziemski has also continued to enjoy ample playing time even though he’s not finding shot.

Over his last eight appearances, Podziemski has seen 28.6 minutes of action per outing while shooting just 38.2 percent from the field. But as pointed out by Kerr, Podziemski can still contribute a lot to the Warriors even with the the rookie’s misfires, as evidenced by the fact that on the season, Podziemski’s plus-minus of +3.8 is the best on the team, thus far.
