Courtland Sutton's future with the Broncos has been up in the air all offseason as the veteran wide receiver wants a reworked contract.
Sutton has been the subject of several trade rumors over the past few months since he has just $2 million guaranteed left on his four-year, $60 million contract.
The 28-year-old recently revealed he hopes to be in Denver for the rest of his career, but wouldn't commit to reporting for the start of training camp without a new deal.
"We'll see. We'll see what happens. Got a month to be able to get things situated," Sutton said, via Troy Renck of the Denver Post. "Hopefully things get situated, because as you all have heard, and I'll continue to say: This is where I want to be. This is home. This is where I want to go hoist the Lombardi Trophy. This is the place where I want to be able to retire."
Sutton skipped the voluntary portion of the offseason program to rehab his ankle injury, but opted to attend mandatory minicamp this week to avoid being fined.
"Coach [Sean Payton] and I were on the same page of me being able to stay there and continue to get my ankle to where I needed to get to ultimately get ready for the season," Sutton added.
It's important for the Broncos to keep Sutton around with two young quarterbacks in Zach Wilson and Bo Nix who hope to spark their respective careers.
Sutton is confident something will get done, although the two sides seem to be at a standstill.
"Obviously, it's something that has been conversed about," Sutton concluded. "My team and I have been in contact with the guys upstairs who handle all that stuff. We kind of have been going back and forth trying to find the best way to find a middle ground to the situation. We were in a stalemate in a sense. But I have confidence that the right thing will be done."
There is still plenty of time for things to change, but Denver's No. 1 wide receiver seems to believe he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Luckily, the Broncos still have over a month to sort the situation out.
Sutton had 59 catches for 772 yards and a career-high 10 touchdowns last season.
