The Jazz have waived guard/forward and former lottery pick Romeo Langford, as well as guard Michael Devoe, and forward Keshawn Justice, per a team press release.
Langford, 23, is 6-foot-4 and was selected by the Celtics with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He hasn’t made much of an impact in the NBA offensively, though he averaged a career-high 6.9 points in 43 games with the Spurs last season.
Nonetheless, the Spurs opted not to re-sign him, opening the door for the Jazz to give him a training camp deal. Jazz CEO Danny Ainge was president of the Celtics when Langford was drafted.
Now, it appears Langford will be headed to the Salt Lake City Stars of the G League, provided another team doesn’t offer him a shot right away. Given that most teams are cutting — and not adding — rosters with the regular season a week away, Langford is likely to have to wait for another NBA opportunity.
Devoe, 23, is 6-4 and went undrafted out of Georgia Tech in 2022. He spent last season in the G League with the Ontario Clippers.
Justice, 23, is 6-7 and went undrafted out of Santa Clara this past summer. He then joined the Jazz for Summer League in July.
Each player will be eligible for a $75,000 bonus if they indeed join the Stars and remain with them for at least 60 days.
