Kings rookie Tyrese Haliburton to miss remainder of season with knee injury

Sacramento Kings rookie Tyrese Haliburton received both good and bad news on Tuesday evening after suffering a knee injury during Sunday's 111-99 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Haliburton's MRI revealed no ligament damage to his left knee. However, he will likely miss the remainder of the season.

Haliburton suffered the injury in the third quarter of Sunday's game when he went behind his back with the dribble to change direction and clipped Josh Richardson's heel.

The 21-year-old has been one of the best rookies in the NBA this season, averaging 13 points, three rebounds and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 47.2% from the field and 40.9% from deep.

The Kings have seven games remaining on the regular season and are 12th in the Western Conference with a 28-37 record. Seeing as how Sacramento will likely miss the playoffs for the 15th consecutive season, it's better that Haliburton focuses on getting healthy for the 2021-22 campaign.
