Lakers' Anthony Davis out vs. Thunder Monday night with Achilles injury

ESPN's Dave McMenamin previously reported that Los Angeles Lakers seven-time All-Star Anthony Davis was "very likely" to miss Monday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to tendonosis of his right Achilles tendon.

According to McMenamin, the Lakers have since confirmed the report.

Heading into the start of the midweek, Davis had missed only three of the Lakers' 24 games and played in Saturday's double-overtime win over the Detroit Pistons. Davis scored 30 points in that victory, but his offensive and defensive averages across the campaign have dipped from last season.

"A lot of people talk about my offense, and how this year has been a slow start and everything offensively, but I'm a two-way player," Davis said following a win over the Denver Nuggets on Thursday. "I don't rely on offense for me to have a great season. I'm doing everything I can on the defensive end. ... When you're a two-way player, you don't have to rely on one aspect of the game with just scoring. I can help my team win on the defensive end and make shots when I need to."

The Lakers (18-6) have won four straight games and sit at second in the conference standings. Per ESPN stats, Davis leads the Lakers with 8.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game and a player efficiency rating of 24.42. He's second behind only LeBron James (25.5) in scoring with 22.3 points per game.

The Lakers face Oklahoma City again on Wednesday.
