Lakers became first team in NBA history to accomplish this feat

The Los Angeles Lakers won their 17th NBA title on Friday night with a 106-93 win over the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. While LeBron James reached new heights with his fourth title and fourth NBA Finals MVP award, his team as a whole also made history.

According to ESPN Stats and Information, the Lakers became the first team in NBA history to not blow a lead heading into the fourth quarter. They finished the season 57-0 when leading through three quarters.

The Lakers were led throughout the season and playoffs by James and Anthony Davis, who both promised to bring a title back to L.A. This is the first NBA Finals win for the Lakers since 2010.

Fans crowded the streets around Staples Center to celebrate the historic win while the Lakers celebrated in the confines of the NBA's Orlando bubble. Los Angeles now will be tasked with hosting a championship parade amid the coronavirus pandemic, and while it won't be easy, it's something the Lakers absolutely deserve.

That 57-0 feat is impressive, but so was the entirety of the Lakers' 2019-20 campaign.
