Lakers' Dennis Schroder expected to miss 10 to 14 days due to COVID protocols

The Los Angeles Lakers can't seem to catch a break.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Lakers guard Dennis Schroder is expected to miss the next 10-14 days in the NBA's health and safety protocols.

The 27-year-old could very likely miss the remainder of the regular season as the Lakers have just eight games remaining. L.A.'s final regular-season game is May 16 against the New Orleans Pelicans.

There's a possibility he returns for the team's final two games of the season, but that's viewed as the best-case scenario.

This isn't great news for the Lakers, which have lost six of their last seven games and are struggling to find consistency. L.A. is seventh in the Western Conference with a 36-28 record and could very well be forced to compete in the play-in tournament, which LeBron James recently slammed.

The Lakers have dealt with several injuries to key players this season, including James and Anthony Davis, who missed a combined 15 weeks. With Schroder now sidelined, James and Davis will be even more pressured to carry the team through a difficult stretch.
