Maxwell Lewis was the 40th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft this past summer after playing two seasons of college basketball for Pepperdine (he is now with the  Los Angeles Lakers).

Through the first four games of the 2023-24 NBA season, Lewis has only played one minute, and on Tuesday, the Lakers announced that they have assigned him to the G League.

Via Khobi Price of So Cal News Group: "The Lakers have assigned second-round pick Maxwell Lewis to their G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers."

During his final season in college, Lewis averaged 17.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest while shooting 46.8% from the field and 34.8% from the three-point range in 31 games.

The Lakers have gone 2-2 in their first four games and most recently defeated the Orlando Magic (at home in California) by a score of 106-103.

D'Angelo Russell led the way with 28 points and eight assists, while Anthony Davis put up 27 points, 19 rebounds, five assists, one steal and three blocks.

They will play their next game on Wednesday evening when they host the Los Angeles Clippers.

Last season, the Lakers were the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 43-39 record.

They made the NBA playoffs and defeated the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors in the first two rounds.

However, the Lakers lost to the Denver Nuggets in the Conference Finals (in four games).

The team has made the NBA playoffs in three out of the previous five seasons and won the 2020 NBA Championship over the Miami Heat
