Nikola Jokic records 78th career triple-double, tying Wilt Chamberlain for most by a center

Reigning back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic achieved another historic feat Saturday against Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Denver Nuggets star recorded triple-double No. 78 of his career in the third quarter, tying legendary big-man and Basketball Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain for the most in NBA history by a center.

Jokic sits tied for sixth on the all-time triple-doubles list. Russell Westbrook still owns the top spot with 194, followed by Hall of Famers Oscar Robertson (181), Magic Johnson (138), Jason Kidd (107), and future inductee LeBron James (105).

Jokic posted his second triple-double in as many days after finishing with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in the Nuggets' 128-123 win over the Golden State Warriors on Thursday.

Heading into Friday night's contest versus the Thunder, Jokic averaged 26.5 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and 1.5 steals through two games.

The 27-year-old is coming off a second consecutive MVP season. In 2021-22, Jokic earned his fourth All-Star nod, averaging career highs in points (27.1), rebounds (13.8), and field goal percentage (.583).
