The Detroit Pistons are a mess. That much we know for sure, as they’ve set a franchise record with 16 straight losses and sit at 2-17.

What we think we know is they are looking to unload some veterans because of it. Guard/forward Alec Burks, point guard Monte Morris and forward Bojan Bogdanovic are all expected to become available.

If so, the Houston Rockets are one team that could have an interest in Burks, a journeyman, but considered a valuable player off the bench.

According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, Burks “was of particular interest to the Rockets.” Others have told Hoops Wire the Rockets are expected to have interest in Burks ahead of the trade deadline.

Sources also said the world champion Denver Nuggets are being linked to Burks. It is not believed either the Rockets or Nuggets have spoken to the Pistons about a trade yet, however.

Burks, 32, is 6-foot-6 and has proven to be the ultimate pro throughout his career, accepting any role. He is averaging 10.8 points and shooting 37 percent on 3-pointers in 13 appearances this season.

He is in the final year of a contract that will pay him around $10.5 million — making him perhaps the easiest member of the Pistons to trade.
