Los Angeles Lakers guard Rajon Rondo Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers struggled mightily on Friday night, ultimately falling to the Phoenix Suns 115-105.

With the loss, L.A. moved to 0-2 on the year.

On an evening filled with multiple indignities, including LeBron James dissing Cameron Payne and Rajon Rondo's bizarre interaction with a fan, one in particular really stands out above the rest: Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard getting into a fight.

Even though both Davis and Howard have gone on record regarding what led up to their squabble, the sheer ridiculousness of it led to multiple Lakers being asked about it after the fact.

One player who opted to discuss the matter was Rondo, who in the process also shined a light on the relationship between Davis and Howard.

“It can happen, you know, (stuff) happens all the time,” Rondo said in a session with reporters on Saturday. “But nevertheless, those two guys, I wouldn’t say they’re best friends, but they get along very well. Dwight’s my best friend some days, A.D.’s my best friend some days. Other than that, two guys going at it, two guys wanting to compete.

“Frustrations happen on the court, obviously they gotta control things better, but at the same time, when you lose things are more magnified, and the Lakers — it seems crazy, but at the same time, I think we’re in a great place, where we need to be as far as continuing to get better.”

Rondo also took a moment to address what truly happened between him and the fan.

“There was an exchange of words and I just wanted to get the guy out of the game,” he said. “It doesn’t really matter what I said, he didn’t threaten me and I didn’t threaten him, there was an exchange of words and got him out of the game. I was pointing at the guy.”

The Lakers are down bad right now. So far, they’ve racked up more fights with fans (three, two courtesy of Russell Westbrook and one via Rondo) than victories.

Fortunately, the season is still young. If they can just string together a couple of wins, all these early woes will immediately be forgotten.
