Report: Amar'e Stoudemire to join Nets as assistant coach

One of the most exciting duos in NBA history is reuniting on the Brooklyn Nets' sideline for the 2020-21 season. Steve Nash was hired by the Nets last month to be the team's next head coach, and it appears he's already making an addition to his coaching staff.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Amar'e Stoudemire has agreed to an assistant coaching job with the Nets.

Nash and Stoudemire were teammates on the Phoneix Suns from 2004-10. During those six seasons, Nash won MVP twice in back-to-back years in 2005 and 2006. Stoudemire appeared in five All-Star games while Nash was on the Suns -- six overall.

The duo never made it to the NBA Finals, but came close on two separate occasions in 2005 and 2010. They'll now be tasked with coaching Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and the Nets to a championship this coming season.

If Durant and Irving stay healthy, the Nets will be among the Eastern Conference's best teams, and one of the favorites to come out on top.
