DeMarcus Cousins narrowed his choices of teams to sign with as a free agent down to the best team in the NBA and perhaps the favorite to make it out of the Eastern Conference next season.

DeMarcus Cousins sent Twitter into hysterics on Monday when news broke he would be joining the Golden State Warriors on an extremely team-friendly deal. The reaction wouldn’t have been the same had he gone with his second choice. However, Cousins still would have created a scenario many would have called unfair.

According to ESPN’s Chris Haynes, Cousins narrowed his choices down to the Warriors and Boston Celtics.

Due to an Achilles injury he suffered last season, Cousins is not expected to be ready to participate in games until well into next season. When that happens, the Warriors will be able to roll out a starting lineup that includes Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Cousins.

The Warriors were the heavy favorites to repeat as champions as soon as Kevin Durant decided to return. The Cousins signing just adds to the embarrassment of riches Golden State has. Had Cousins chosen the Celtics, a lineup with Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown/Jayson Tatum, Al Horford and Cousins would have been pretty awesome as well.
