Report: Kyrie Irving wants to play out next season with Nets, regardless of Kevin Durant's status

Evidently, regardless of what transpires in the Brooklyn Nets possible trade of superstar Kevin Durant, fellow star Kyrie Irving is hoping to remain in the Big Apple for the 2022-23 campaign.

It was reported last week that the Nets were "focused" on trying to find a deal to move Durant, as talks regarding an Irving trade weren't gaining any traction. Two weeks ago, ESPN's Brian Windhorst noted that there was a very real possibility that both players start the 2022-23 season in Brooklyn.

"Uncle Drew" opted into his $37 million player option in June and three days later, Durant requested a trade.

The report is surprising considering Irving's tumultuous tenure in Brooklyn so far.
