Report: NBA broadcasters won't call games from Walt Disney World
The NBA season is set to resume this summer with a 22-team format at Walt Disney World following a hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, and we're slowly beginning to learn more details surrounding the return to action.
It was reported by Stadium's Shams Charania on Monday that play-in games will begin on Aug. 16 with Game 1 of the NBA Finals beginning on Sept. 30, and now we're learning specifics about how broadcasting will work as well.
Yahoo's Keith Smith reports that broadcasters probably won't be able to call games from Walt Disney World. If they're allowed to, it'll be very few, he adds.
Broadcasters won't have a very difficult time calling games remotely, though it certainly will be different. If they were permitted to broadcast games on-site, they'd most likely have to be quarantined the same way players are at one specific hotel.
If broadcasters aren't allowed in the arena, things will be fairly quiet as only essential personnel will be allowed to enter. However, players' family members may be allowed to attend games come September, and that's what they're hoping for.
